Times Money has launched a new weekly personal finance podcast, hosted by deputy money editor Holly Mead and money reporter Lucy Andrews.
Feel Better About Money is for anyone who wants to understand money and feel better about it. The podcast will blend expert financial advice with a fresh, positive approach, offering a fun and supportive take on all aspects of personal finance — just as you would expect from the Times Money section.
Each week, Mead and Andrews will tackle a specific financial topic, featuring case studies and insights from a regular panel of expert guests. Their goal is to equip listeners with practical tips and information to make smarter financial decisions. The show will cover topics from managing debt and saving for a pension to buying a house or deciding whether to insure your cat.
The first episode is now available and looks at everything you need to know in the run-up to the budget on October 30. Mead is joined by Laura Suter from the wealth manager AJ Bell, while Andrews delves through the archives to dig out some of the most shocking budgets of the past.
The show discusses the many rumours that are circling as the chancellor Rachel Reeves prepares to deliver her first budget in the House of Commons: will capital gains tax be increased? Could small businesses be hit with tax rises? And what changes are in store for pensions and inheritance tax?
“We can’t predict it all, of course, but we can try and prepare. We will bring you expert tips on how to get your finances ready, what you need to check up on and what you need to look out for,” Mead said.
“If we can have one bright spot that has come out of the cost of living crisis, it is that people are more willing to talk about their finances, to compare mortgage rates and talk about what savings rates they are getting, so we want that to continue,” Suter said.
Johanna Noble, money editor at The Times and The Sunday Times, said: “Feel Better About Money is all about demystifying the world of personal finance. Holly and Lucy will make these important conversations engaging and approachable, helping listeners to make informed decisions that can improve their financial wellbeing. The podcast feels like an extension of the trusted advice readers have come to expect from Times Money.”
