    VERY RARE
Charles Ringling SIGNED “Bengal Tiger” CHECK
    ,
    drawn
    on the
RINGLING BROTHERS / World’ Greatest Shows CIRCUS account
at the Bank of Baraboo in Baraboo, Wisconsin.  Check is
    dated
    November 12th
    1913
    and made
    payable to
“L. Schrieber” in the amount of .10.  The check has been stamped “PAID” on the front in purple ink and has been endorsed / SIGNED on the backside by “Louis Schrieber”.
    This beautiful and ornate
check has a central, broadside view of a BENGAL TIGER, with the colorful “Ringling Bros” name in the top left corner
    in stylized form.
Charles Ringling’s signature is virtually unobtainable on this particular VARIETY of “Ringling Brothers” circus check
, depicting an attractive image of the BENGAL TIGER.  This is
ONLY the SECOND Bengal Tiger CHECK that I have ever encountered over the last 25 years that was genuinely SIGNED by Charles Ringling
.  While this style of  check (colorful Bengal Tiger) can be easily found SIGNED by Tom Buckley (Ringling Brother’s treasurer) or by one of Charles Ringling’s BROTHERS, Henry + AL, it is VERY RARE to find one with Charles Ringling’s actual signature.
    CHARLES RINGLING (1863 - 1926)
was  one of five “founding brothers” who built one of the greatest dynasty’s in the history of the American circus.  The Ringling’s success was achieved on the basis of each of the five brothers fulfilling a particular role, and Charles was the advance man in charge of production.  The Ringling Brothers bought the Barnum & Bailey Circus from the widow of James Bailey in 1907 and operated this additional circus independently from their own until 1919, when they combined the two shows.  Charles Ringling would purchase large tracts of land in Florida and was instrumental in using his wealth to help develop the Sarasota County area.  Besides the lavish, forty-acre home he constructed for his wife and daughter, he erected a 10 story hotel, owned a 33,000 acre ranch, founded the Ringling Bank and Trust Company, and built 150 Spanish style homes.  Charles also served as the President of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.

    PLEASE READ:
I have been buying + selling American historical autographs & documents for over 30 years and a former member of both the “Manuscript Society” and the UACC.  We ship everything INSURED (thru the USPS) with a value over .  This helps us know that the item you took the time to purchase arrived safely.  We have not had a package turn up lost in over 25 years, though one package went rogue about 15 years ago but eventually turned up.  Packages are shipped out within 1 – 3 business days, but typically the next day.  Please understand, we do not make any money on shipping costs, but rather run a deficit over the course of a year.  Most people don’t realize that ebay and paypal deduct a total of 13% from my stated shipping charges (leaving me 87% of that amount for actual postage + insurance).  Everything we sell is packaged with the utmost care.  Please read my ebay feedback over the last 20 years.  The comments are often – the best packaging I have ever seen, “bullet proof” packaging, etc.
