You are bidding on an original signature of Robert E. Lee, Commander of the Confederate States Army (CSA) during the U.S. Civil War. Lee incudes his military rank as well, making this signature especially desirable.
Within this signature clip, Robert E. Lee also includes his military rank as Brevet Colonel Superintendent at the West Point Military Academy. The signature clip reads as follows:

The signature clip was cut from a larger letter completely handwritten by Robert E. Lee in 1852 (see our uploaded photos of the large letter, which we did for reference purposes). We, the current sellers, personally cut the offered signature clip from the body of the larger letter.
The letter was purchased by the current sellers in 2021 from RR Auction, a well-known U.S. auction house based in New Hampshire.
